(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - Deputy Premier, Transport Minister
and League leader Matteo Salvini on Tuesday blasted the European
Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) as "useless"
after it accused the Italian police of racial profiling, with
particular regard to Roma and people of African origin, in a
report.
"Women and men in uniform have been shamelessly attacked by
ECRI, a useless body in part paid for with the taxes of Italian
citizens," said Salvini on social media.
"The League will propose saving this money and allocating it to
health care instead of dragging our police forces through the
mud.
"If these gentlemen like Roma people and illegal immigrants so
much, let them all take them to their homes in Strasbourg".
