(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, NOV 18 - Deputy Premier and Foreign
Minister Antonio Tajani said Monday that Italy's policy of only
allowing Kyiv to use the arms aid Rome sends it in Ukrainian
territory has not changed after reports that US President Joe
Biden has authorized Kyiv to use long-range American missiles
against military targets inside Russia.
"Our position on Ukraine's use of (Italian) weapons has not
changed, they can only be used within Ukrainian territory,"
Tajani said on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council in
Brussels.
"We are in favour of a peace conference with the presence of the
Russians, the Chinese, the Indians and the Brazilians, and I
hope that Beijing can play a positive role in making Moscow
understand that this senseless war must stop," he continued.
"Of course, the presence of North Korean soldiers (alongside
Russian forces) is not a good sign".
Tajani also said he does not back the proposal of the EU High
Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell to suspend
dialogue with Israel over breaches of human rights in its war
its war against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
"Let's see how High Representative Josep Borrell's proposal is
formulated, but boycotting dialogue with Israel makes no sense,"
Tajani said.
"If you want to work for peace you can't avoid talking to
Israel". (ANSA).
