(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - Stand-up comic turned politician
Beppe Grillo on Monday asked for the repetition of the vote by
his 5-Star Movement's Constituent Assembly that stripped him of
his leading role as founder of the populist group, corriere.it
reported.
Grillo has formally communicated to the M5S his desire as
'guarantor' to have the votes repeated, especially those that
call into question his role.
M5S members voted at the weekend to eliminate the role of
'guarantor" held by Grillo, who founded the movement as an "Up
Yours" to the establishment in 2009.
The assembly also voted to scrap a two-term limit and in favour
of leader and ex premier Giuseppe Conte's decision to place the
party firmly and formally in the progressive camp.
Grillo opposed the reforms and his loyalists boycotted the
assembly in an unsuccessful bid to stop it reaching a quorum.
