(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 5 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Thursday that, while he might not agree with
how Israel is conducting its war against Hamas in Gaza, what is
happening in the enclave does not amount to genocide.
Amnesty International said in a report on Thursday that Israel
was committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza,
sparking an angry denial from Israel.
Amnesty's Israeli branch said it did not agree with this finding
either.
"I may not agree with what the Israeli army is doing: it is time
to stop, it is time to come to a ceasefire," Tajani said at the
end of a ceremony marking the 120th anniversary of the
completion of the Great Synagogue of Rome.
"But it is not genocide in Gaza". (ANSA).
