(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 6 - An agreement with Elon Musk on
boosting Italy's connectivity would be an opportunity rather
than posing a threat, Deputy Premier, Transport and
Infrastructure Minister and rightwing League party leader Matteo
Salvini said Monday amid a row over the billionaire's Starlink
satelitte programme possibly taking over management of Italy's
telecoms security.
"Musk is a protagonist of innovation at a global level: a
possible agreement with him to guarantee connection and
modernity throughout Italy would not be a danger but an
opportunity," said Salvini, long an admirer of the world's
richest man, as is Premier Giorgia Meloni, who has forged a
friendship with the X, Tesla and SpaceX owner.
"I trust that the government will speed up in this direction,
because offering better services to citizens is a duty". (ANSA).
