(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 15 - Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said Wednesday that the stare of Italy's railways was down to previous governments after coming under fire over a recent wave of delays, cancellations and disruption for passengers.
"We have launched a 100-billion-euro investment plan for railway infrastructure, with over 1,200 construction sites already active to make up for decades of delays on the railways of this country and recover the damage of the misgovernment of the Left," Salvini said via X.
He hit back at ex-premier Matteo Renzi, leader of the centrist, opposition Italia Viva party, who has criticized his handling of the nation's railways.
"Wasn't be meant to retire from politics?," Salvini said.
