Voices disappointment at media attacks on alleged leak

Lo Voi defends self over Caputi case

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 19 - Rome Chief Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi on Wednesday defended himself against government claims he had acted wrongly over allegedly secret information on Premier Giorgia Meloni's chef de cabinet Gaetano Caputi whose alleged leaking spurred a complaint from the DIS intelligence service agency.
Testifying to parliamentary intelligence service oversight committee COPASIR, Lo Voi stressed the "absolute correctness of my office's workings, and no violation of the law," sources said.
Lo Voi said the charges against him were wholly unfounded and voiced disappointment about the media attacks he has been subjected to, in his three-hour testimony to the panel.
Lo Voi was recently criticised by Pemier Giorgia Meloni for informing her she was being probed along with two ministers and her cabinet secretary for the release after a brief arrest and flight home of Libyan alleged war criminal Osama Almasri, wanted by the International Criminal Court.
