(ANSA) - Rome, April 9 - Vatican City fountains and statues will get revamped thanks to bacteria-based technology created by Italy's National Technology, Energy and Environment Agency ENEA, media reported on Thursday.
Bio-restoration uses microorganisms to clean up works of art by removing accumulation, including smog and glue.
"To date, ENEA labs have selected over 500 strains of bacteria and fungi to be used in restoration," the agency said.
