(ANSA) - Rome, October 29 - The World Health Organisation's
warning on the cancer risks of eating processed and red meat
"was not alarmist", "risks were identified" and the final report
in mid-2016 will "reach the same conclusions," Kurt Straif, head
of the monograph department of the WHO's International Agency
for Research on Cancer (IARC), told ANSA Thursday. Sales of
processed meat, said to be a certain cancer risk, and red meat,
a probable one, have slumped by about 20% since the IARC's
warning earlier this week.
