(ANSA) - Rome, December 14 - Italian and American
hematologists have signed a deal for joint research into blood
diseases such as leukemia and lymphoma.
The Italian Hematology Society (SIE) and the American
Society of Hematology (ASH) joined forces at the 57th ASH
congress in Orlando, Florida, earlier this month.
"Italian scientists are second only to American ones in
terms of publications on the main international journals," said
SIE President Fabrizio Pane.
"This is the first ASH signed an agreement of this type
with a European society".
The deal involves coming up with joint research guidelines
and scholarship for 10 young Italian clinicians to attend top
American universities under the shared aegis of the two
scientific societies.
