Record collisions in LHC, (2)

Towards new phenomena, from dark matter to new dimensions

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, May 9 - The Large Hadron Collider in CERN's Geneva lab has started producing new "record" collisions that are opening a gateway on the unknown, creating new particles leading to newly observable phenomena including the dark matter that occupies 25% of the universe and the existence of new dimensions, scientists said Monday. "It's a big thrill," said CERN Directo Fabiola Gianotti. "With these data, tests will enable us to obtain more precise measurements of the Higgs boson, as well as other particles and phenomena," she said. The data will also "enable us to look towards a new physics, with an increased potential for discovery".
