(ANSA) - Rimini, November 8 - Italy is the leading green
economy in Europe, and green technology could be a leading
driver to help the country's economic development, according to
a statement released by the Ecomondo Green Technologies Expo
that opened on Tuesday and runs through Friday.
An analysis conducted by the Rome-based Sustainable
Development Foundation found that, although Italy bested the
green economies of Germany, the UK, France, and Spain, it still
has a "poor perception on an international level".
Italy was ranked by analysing eight strategic categories,
including greenhouse gas emissions, renewables, recycling and
eco-innovation.
The information was presented as part of the States General
of the Green Economy taking place at Ecomondo, promoted by the
National Council of the Green Economy and made up of 64 business
organisations that represent the green economy in Italy, in
collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry
of Economic Development.
