(ANSA) - Brussels, April 6 - The Italian civil protection
department on Monday activated the EU's Copernicus observatory
satellite to monitor its territory to check on gathering points
and healthcare facilities.
The aim is to monitor activities and public spaces during the
COVID-19 emergency.
The announcement was made by European Commissioner for Crisis
Management, Janez Lenarcic.
The civil protection will use Copernicus to make sure people
are not gathering outside.
