(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 1 - President Sergio Mattarella said
Geneva's nuclear physics lab CERN contributes to EU strategic
autonomy at a ceremony marking its 70th birthday Tuesday.
"In expressing appreciation for the results that the European
Centre for Nuclear Research has been able to achieve in its
first seventy years of life, I would like to point out how CERN
has represented a virtuous example of European cooperation in a
global reality marked - also in the scientific field - by powers
of a scale infinitely superior to our national horizons," he
said.
"Progress means common commitment so that the Centre can
continue to exercise its role of excellence, contributing to
European leadership in a key sector for the strategic autonomy
of the Continent". (ANSA).
