Rowing: Vincenzo Abbagnale faces 16-mth

(ANSA) - Rome, April 22 - Vincenzo Abbagnale, world champion and stroke of Italy's eight for the Rio Olympics, faces a 16-month doping ban after missing drugs tests, the Italian National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) said Friday.
    Abbagnale Jr's likely ban was announced by his father, Azzurri rowing legend and federation chair Giuseppe in February.
    "Out of transparency we want to make the announcement...He missed three doping tests and the rules are clear," Abbagnale senior said.
    "It was naive of him but according to the regulations it will cost him a one-to-two-year ban".
