(ANSA) - Rome, May 6 - CONI President Giovanni Malagò said
Friday that Claudio Ranieri will receive the Italian Olympic
Committee's top honour for a coach, the Palma d'Oro (Golden
Palm) after leading unfancied Leicester City to the English
league title.
"To say he deserves it is an understatement," said Malagò
after the Italian coach pulled off one of the most remarkable
feats in modern football history.
He will receive the honour on Monday in Rome when he
collects the 2016 Enzo Bearzot prize.
The Bearzot prize is awarded by the Association of Italian
Christian Workers (ACLI) and by the Italian Soccer Federation
(FIGC).
Earlier this week Premier Matteo Renzi said that he will
propose awarding a top State honour to Ranieri.
