(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 31 - Meo Sacchetti has departed as Italy's
national basketball coach, Italian Basketball Federataion
President Gianni Petrucci announced Tuesday.
Former Varese power forward Sacchetti, 68, who coached the
national side since September 27, came to an amicable agreement
about ending his contract, Petrucci said.
Petrucci said "the relationship was exhausted, like in many
divorces" and said that a successor would be announced in a
week's time.
He would not confirm or deny that Olimpia Milano assistant coach
Gianmarco Pozzecco had been contacted for the position.
Sacchetti is the Fortitudo Bologna coach, a post he did not
leave when he took over the Azzurri job. (ANSA).
