Soccer: 'Time to make history in Saudi' says Mancini

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 28 - It's time to make history in Saudi Arabia, said former Italy coach Roberto Mancini after his appointment to lead the Saudia Arabia national team on Sunday.
    "I made history in Europe, now it's time to make history with Saudi," said Mancini in a social video posted by the Saudi Arabian football federation (SAFF).
    The reference is to Italy's victory under his management in the UEFA European Football Championship in 2021.
    Mancini, who resigned unexpectedly as Italy coach two weeks ago, has been given a four-year contract with Saudia Arabia, according to SAFF. The Saudi national team's first matches under his management will be friendlies against Costa Rica on September 8 and against South Korea on September 12. (ANSA).
