(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 26 - Napoli's Brazil defender Juan Jesus posted a picture of himself with his fist raised in the Black Power and Black Lives Matter salute after Inter's Italy defender Francesco Acerbi was cleared of calling him a negro for lack of evidence Tuesday.
The player has changed his Instagram profile photo with the image that recalls the battles against racism of Black Power, including Tommie Smith and John Carlos on the podium of the 1968 Mexico Games with clenched fists, and also a gesture taken up in recent years by Black Lives Matter demonstrations.
Juan Jesus said Acerbi called him a negro, am insulting racial epithet, during the recent 1-1 draw at the San Siro, an alleged incident that led the Inter and former Lazio centre back being dropped from Italy's friendlies against Venezuela and Ecuador in the US. (ANSA).
