(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 26 - Italy's Lorenzo Musetti served up an
excellent performance to beat American Ben Shelton at the Miami
Open late on Monday and set up a last-16 clash with Carlos
Alcaraz.
The 22-year-old came back from 3-0 down in the first set and 4-1
down in the second to notch the 18th victory of his career over
a top-20-ranked opponent.
He joins Matteo Arnaldi and world number three Jannik Sinner in
the last 16, making it the first time three Italians have got so
far in a men's singles Masters 1000 tournament on hard courts.
"It was my best performance of the last few months," Musetti
said.
"I feel like I did everything right and found the real Lorenzo
on the court, in terms of maturity, decision-making and
physicality.
"I felt good and I took on a player whose characteristics are
perhaps the prototype of a player that I don't like.
"I enjoyed it, I didn't make many unforced errors, not many bad
decisions... I had fun". (ANSA).
