Tennis: Sinner beats Rune to reach Monte-Carlo semis

World number two to face Tsitsipas in last four

(ANSA) - ROME, APR 12 - Italy's Jannik Sinner beat Holger Rune 6-4 6-7 6-3 on Friday to continue his hot form and reach the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters.
    The world number two will face Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last four after the twice Monte-Carlo champion beat Russian Karen Khachanov 6-4, 6-2.
    Sinnner, 22, is aiming for his fourth title of 2024 after winning the Australian Open, the ATP event in Rotterdam and the Miami Open.
    He also led Italy to victory in the Davis Cup last year.

 Speaking after the hard-fought match against the Dane, Sinner said "It took a lot to win. It's never easy to play and win, I'm happy with the result. Pity I didn't get the match point in the second set, but I stayed in the match.
"It was physically tough, now I'll have to rest for tomorrow.
"It was a tough match, with many rallies. But the feeling is good and I'm confident about tomorrow!."
