(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 10 - The President of the Republic, Sergio
Mattarella, will be present at the opening ceremony of the Paris
Paralympics on Wednesday 28 August on the Champs-Elisées and
Place de la Concorde, the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP)
announced Wednesday, after the Head of State informed CIP
President Luca Pancalli in a phone call.
"We are deeply honoured and excited to be able to count on the
President's presence at the inaugural ceremony," said Pancalli.
"Mattarella once again shows that he has the Paralympic movement
at heart and with his presence he wants to encourage the Italian
national team and the Italian athletes involved in the Games".
