(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 6 - Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori have
made tennis history by becoming the first Italians to win the
mixed doubles at a Grand Slam, beating Americans Taylor Townsend
and Donald Young 7-6 7-5 in the final of the US Open.
"Life has really gone over the top this year," Errani told
SuperTennis.
"I won (the women's doubles at the Italian Open in) Rome and
Olympic gold (with Jasmine Paolini) and I won here.
"I'm delighted".
Vavassori was happy too.
"I always said that I wanted to win a Grand Slam, no matter
whether it be in the singles, the doubles or the mixed doubles,"
he said.
"I'm very emotional because I managed to do it and I did it with
Sara, who was excellent". (ANSA).
