(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 20 - Italy's world number one continued
his Australian Open title defence on Monday, beating Denmark
Holger Rune's 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals
despite felling unwell.
Having lost the second set, the 23-year-old needed a medical
timeout in the third, amid intense heat in Melbourne.
But he showed his characteristic mental strength to ride out the
difficult moment and bring home the result.
Sinner's compatriot Lorenzo Sonego is also in the last-eight
after beating 19-year-old American Learner Tien 6-3, 6-2, 3-6,
6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first
