(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 14 - Federica Brignone on Friday won the women's Super-G in La Thuile, Austria, moving significantly closer to this season's overall World Cup title.
Sofia Goggia finished the race in second place, ahead of France's Romane Miradoli.
Now Brignone has 1454 points, 382 more that Switzerland's Lara Gut Behrami, who finished the race in fourth position on Friday, before the final four races of the season in Beaver Creek, United States.
Brignone needs just 18 points to be mathematically certain of her second overall title.
"I'm having a fantastic day. I really wanted to come down to my house under the green light. The track was nicer, I was very focused and I was lucky enough to start with the number 6", said the 34-year-old from Milan, who won the first ever overall World Cup title by an Italian woman in 2020.
Her brother and coach Davide said: "I don't think that now, unless there's something strange, Gut will participate in the final slalom.
So Fede has more than 300 points of advantage, we haven't talked about it until now because we have to stay on top of things, we will have to stay on top of things also in Sun Valley because she will play three world cups in three disciplines, but the general cup is over as of today".
