(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 25 - The Amerigo Vespucci has left Tokyo, the second stop on the world tour after Los Angeles, where the impressive 'Italy Village' was set up, inaugurated on the eastern side of the metropolis last Monday.
In the closing ceremony, Defence Services CEO Luca Andreoli thanked the Japanese capital's port authorities for guaranteeing extraordinary assistance, together with the local authorities, as well as celebrating the success of the organisational set-up.
"Tokyo confirms to us that this project of the Italian Village as a large container, as a platform to promote Italian excellence, is a valid, effective, extraordinary project.
We are talking about tens of thousands of Japanese who have visited us with endless queues, and here we Italians have learnt a lot about how to stand in line! And for all those who didn't have the chance to go on board, I hope they were able to breathe a bit of "Italian-ness" while photographing the ship from these beautiful facilities'.
Of the same opinion was the Italian Ambassador to Japan, Gianluigi Benedetti, who celebrated the new era between the two countries that began in January 2023. "The Vespucci is a travelling messenger of Italian culture, traditions, values and excellence around the world, and the welcome it has received here in Tokyo, a warmth and enthusiasm that have exceeded all expectations, is a tangible demonstration of the deep bond that unites our peoples. We can be sure that this human dimension underpinning the friendship between Italy and Japan will enable us to develop institutional, economic, scientific and cultural relations even further'.
