Assisi 'not show, prayer for peace'-pope

(ANSA) - Assisi, September 20 - Men and women of all religions will gather in Assisi not for a spectacle but to pray for peace, Pope Francis said before departing for the Umbria town to take part in the World Day of Prayer for Peace on Tuesday.
    "Today the centre of the world is in Assisi for a day of prayer, penitence and weeping, because the world is at war," said the pope at the Santa Marta guesthouse before leaving for the event, according to the Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano.
