Closure to migrants ineffective and undignified say bishops

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 16 - Closure to migrants is ineffective and undignified, Italian bishops said Wednesday.
    Italy has closed its ports to NGO run migrant rescue ships.
    "Are we sure that closure towards migrants and refugees and indifference for the causes that move them are the most effective and dignified strategy to manage what is now not only an emergency?" said the message of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) on the 45th National Day for Life.
    "Are we sure that war, in Ukraine as in the countries of the many 'forgotten conflicts', is really able to overcome the reasons that create it?" The CEI added that "there is always life for children, the disabled, the elderly, the ill, and migrants".
    It said "there are so many men and women who ask above all for respect, dignity and welcome". (ANSA).
