(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 26 - For the first time in the pontificate
of Pope Francis the meditations that will accompany the Stations
of the Cross at the Colosseum on Good Friday will be written by
the pope himself, the Vatican said on Tuesday.
"This year it will be a very meditative Stations of the Cross,"
said the Holy See press office.
The meditations, which will be released on Friday, "are very
focused on Jesus and on what he is experiencing at that moment,
and from there they broaden out to the world of suffering",
added the press office.
Francis' decision to pen his own mediations for the Good Friday
liturgy has a precedent in Pope John Paul II, who did it twice.
The emphasis is expected to be on prayer in a year that the pope
has chosen to devote to intercession in preparation for the 2025
Holy Jubilee. (ANSA).
