(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 11 - Pope Francis on Sunday got a new
lightweight wheelchair built for him by an orthopaedic equipment
company at Frosinone, between Rome and Naples.
The new white leather wheelchair is extremely light, and
adjustable, with low forks, made to specs by the Officine
Ortopediche firm.
"It took two months of constant work," said staff chief Claudio
Territi
"Eight of us worked on it, from the design to the construction.
"It wasn't easy because we had to work to specific needs,
considering the Holy Father's previous pathologies involving his
lower limbs."
Francis, 87, has suffered for years with a bad right knee and
walks with a cane when he is not in his wheelchair. (ANSA).
