(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 12 - Vatican Secretary of State Pietro
Parolin on Monday morning spoke on the phone with Iranian
President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressing the Holy See's strong
concern for the situation in the Middle East, the director of
the Vatican press office Matteo Bruni has said.
Cardinal Parolin, "in addition to congratulating the president
for the start of his mandate and discussing themes of common
interest, expressed the Holy See's serious concern for what is
occurring in the Middle East, stressing the need to avoid in
every way for the extremely grave ongoing conflict to expand and
preferring instead dialogue, negotiations and peace", Bruni said
on Monday.
