(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 25 - Italy deserves to be be beaten for
not having children with couples preferring pets to kids, Pope
Francis said Wednesday.
Speaking at the weekly general audience in the Vatican on The
Economy of Francis, the Pontiff said: "I see that there are some
children over there: this is beautiful, in a culture where it is
privileged to have little dogs or cats and not children.
"We need to beat Italy up a bit!
"Believe me: it is worth spending your life to change the world
for the better."
It is not the first time the Argentine pontiff has chided people
for having pets instead of children. (ANSA).
