(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 24 - Russia's war of aggression on Ukraine
is something the like of which has not been seen since the
Second World War, President Sergio Mattarella said Friday.
Speaking to new 'ensigns of the republic' on the fist
anniversary of Moscow's invasion, Mattarella said: "Today is a
special day because it marks the end of a long year of Russia's
war of aggression against Ukraine: our Europe has not seen a war
to conquer territory or annex it since the dramatic events of
the Second World War".
The Italian president added that peace lives in the feelings of
people.
"Peace is not only made by agreements between countries but also
in the feelings of peoples", he said at the presentation of the
Alfieri della Repubblica awards.
"Our country has always cultivated the civilisation of the human
condition." (ANSA).
