(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 15 - Greek authorities have arrested 11-12
men accused of being the traffickers who steered a trawler
carrying 750 people including 2100 children from Libya to Greece
where it sank off Pylos leaving hundreds feared dead, the BBC
reported Thursday citing Greek public broadcaster ERT.
According to Greek media they are Egyptians who have been
identified by some of the 105 rescued migrants who paid $4-6,000
each for the voyage in which so many of them found death.
It is not to be ruled out, Greek news sites said, that the
number of those arrested may rise in the coming hours. The
suspects, according to the local coast guard, have been taken to
appear before prosecutors. (ANSA).
