(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 24 - Premier Giorgia Meloni on Saturday said she would meet later in the day with her ministers and Italy's intelligence chiefs on the reported civil war in Russia where Wagner mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has launched a rebellion and is set to march on Moscow to bring down top brass for their allegedly bungled management of the war in Ukraine.
"These are events of the last few hours, it's not easy to say exactly what is happening: I'm also taking the opportunity to announce to the press that, having finished this appointment that I didn't want to miss, I have summoned the competent ministers and the Italian intelligence to get more elements. I cannot make predictions on how things may go" said Meloni, in joint statements with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, after their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Europa Forum Wachau, responding to a question on what is happening in Russia.
Italians in the Rostov region have been urged to stay under shelter while Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has said there have been no problems fro them so far. (ANSA).
