(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 29 - The Vatican is balanced and is
continuing dialogue on Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry
spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in an interview with ANSA
Tuesday.
Relations between Russia and the Holy See, the spokeswoman
added, are marked by "a mutually respectful and constructive
approach" and Moscow "very much appreciates the Vatican's
balanced line on the conflict in Ukraine and the efforts of the
Holy See and Pope Francis personally to seek a peaceful
solution, which unfortunately are openly rejected by the Kiev
regime".
Vatican peace envoy Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the head of the
Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) has been pursuing peace in
Ukraine for months.
Ukraine stresses that only its peace plan is valid. (ANSA).
