(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 19 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Friday that Italy would be willing to take
part in a UN peacekeeping mission in Gaza if the international
community agreed on one.
"More than 1,000 Italian military personnel who are in Lebanon
are there for a UN mission," Tajani told Radio24.
"If a peace mission is needed in Gaza, in a transitional phase,
we are ready to send our military personnel with the UN as
peacekeepers," he continued, adding that "there is no American
request to expand the Lebanese mission in this regard" at the
moment. (ANSA).
