(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 15 - Ocean Viking saved another 135
migrants off Malta Friday after the Sos Mediterranee vessel
rescued 25 survivors from a wreck that killed around 60 people
Thursday.
The latest batch included a pregnant woman and eight children.
The were rescued in Maltese search and rescue (SAR) waters.
In all, the boat operated by the Franco-German-Italian-Swiss NGO
is carrying some 359 shipwreck victims, and has been assigned
the safe port of Ancona in central Marche, halfway up the
Adriatic.
"Such a long navigation should never be imposed on persons
rescued at sea," said the NGO.
The Italian government has been discouraging NGO activities by
assigning them ports in central and northern Italy rather than
southern Italy. (ANSA).
