(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 10 - Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on
Wednesday launched Italy's bid for the NATO envoy on the
Alliance's southern front, defined as a "priority" for Italy.
"There are some excellent Italian candidates," he said.
"I think that precisely for the knowledge that Italy has of all
the Mediterranean area, starting from the Balkans to Africa and
the Middle East but also the the Gulf area. We can put at the
Atlantic Alliance's disposal high-level names with knowledge of
both NATO and of the reality of the southern flank," he told the
Italian media on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington.
