(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 10 - Ex premier and leftwing 5-Star Movement (M5S) leader Giuseppe Conte called for Italy to recall its ambassador to Israel after an Israeli air strike on a Gaza school believed to be a front for Hamas killed dozens of Palestinian civilians.
"One hundred more Palestinian civilians, many children and women, blown to pieces by Israeli bombs dropped on a school-shelter in Gaza crowded for prayer time," he said.
"Every day a new massacre, even more atrocious, while those who survive the bombs die of hunger, thirst and disease.
"A systematic extermination carried out by an extremist government that justifies every massacre and theorises a new 'morality' that allows two million Palestinians to starve.
    "Condemnations are no longer enough.
"We ask the Italian government to recall our ambassador to Tel Aviv in firm protest against the Netanyahu government's incessant war crimes".
The Hamas run health ministry in the Strip says almost 36,800 people have been killed in Israel's controversial campaign in Gaza in response to the the October 7 attacks on Israel in which Hamas killed almost 1,400 people and took some 250 hostages.
