(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 1 - More than 30,000 migrants have died in
the Mediterranean since 2014, an Italian foundation said Tuesday
ahead of the October 3 Day of Remembrance and Reception
commemorating the 368 victims - including 83 women and 9
children - of the tragic shipwreck off the coast of Lampedusa on
3 October 2013.
Since the beginning of the year, at least 1,452 migrants have
lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea or are missing, with a
year-end projection of just under 2,000, said the Fondazione
ISMU ETS on International Organisation for Migration data.
In the last decade, it said, the number of minors dead or
missing in the Mediterranean could be "over 6 thousand". (ANSA).
