(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 4 - Italy, France and Germany, in a letter
addressed to the European Commission in view of the new
legislature, have asked the EU to show moderation in defining
financial rules and to focus instead on the competitiveness of
the banking sector, Bloomberg news agency reported Friday.
In the letter, the three largest European economies asked the EC
to ease some rules already in force, so that European banks have
"a level playing field" with other large jurisdictions (the US
first and foremost) and, at the same time, to "refrain from
launching new large-scale initiatives" in the short and medium
term.
