(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 11 - Italy has been in Lebanon with the
UNIFIL peacekeeping buffer force for many years and is staying
put despite Israeli attacks and orders to get out, Defence
Minister Guido Crosetto said Friday after an Italian base was
attacked for the second time overnight Friday, one of three
bases hit on Thursday in an Israeli Defence Force (IDF) campaign
that has so far injured two Indonesian and two Sri Lankan
soldiers.
"We will never be the ones to move because someone tells us, by
force, to move," he said on a visit to other Italian
peacekeeping troops, in Kosovo.
"We are there and we will stay there, with the strength of the
United Nations mandate".
"Yesterday I responded to Israel after they told us to move,
that Italy does not take orders from anyone". (ANSA).
