(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 14 - The current rules of engagement of
the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) are not
good to disarm Hezbollah, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani told the Italian media in Berlin Monday.
If the objective is to disarm Hezbollah, "the current rules of
engagement of UNIFIL are not good", he said.
Answering a question about the possible modification of the
rules of engagement of the Unifil contingent in Lebanon in the
event that the aim was to disarm terrorists, he replied: "It is
obvious that, if the objective is that of the United Nations,
the current rules of engagement are not good because they do not
even have the suitable weaponry to impose decisions of this
type. It is the United Nations that must choose". (ANSA).
