(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 21 - Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the
Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani said in a joint statement
signed during their bilateral meeting at Villa Doria Pamphilj in
Rome Monday that the two countries would move forward on setting
up an Italian military hub in Qatar.
"We underline our commitment to deepen our strategic
partnership on defense issues, both at military and industrial
level," the statement said.
"In particular, leveraging the frequent exchanges of visits and
joint training programs and activities, we express our
willingness to explore new ways of collaborating, continuing the
discussion on the establishment of an Italian military logistics
hub in Qatar and promoting the coordination of exports in the
