Marriages down 6.7% in 2024, gay unions up 7.3% (3)

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 22 - Marriages were down 6.7% in the first eight months of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, while gay unions were up 7. 3%, Istat said Friday.
    Some 56.1% of the gay unions involved men, said the national stats agency.
    In 2023, Istat said, marriages were down 2.6& to 184,207 compared to 2022, and church weddings fell by 8.2% on the previous year, accentuating a long downward trend. (ANSA).
