Stellantis: Gusmeroli demands Elkann report to parliament

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 2 - The president of the Lower House's commission of productive activities, Alberto Gusmeroli, said on Monday that he has sent a letter requesting Stellantis Chairman John Elkann to report to parliament following the announcement late on Sunday that Carlos Tavares has quit as CEO of the Italian-French-American carmaker.
    "This morning, following the resignation yesterday of the CEO of Stellantis, I sent a letter requesting to hear President Elkann", Gusmeroli told the Start program of Sky Tg24. "I think it is absolutely necessary and I believe the request can be accepted", he noted, adding that "it is a difficult time for the automotive" sector.
    "Faced with a complicated problem like ecological transition, there are certainly more interconnected solutions, not just one", Gusmeroli noted.
    "It is necessary not to divide over a problem that concerns everybody.
    "As always, great changes can be great opportunities, we have to succeed in finding the right solutions for a sector that is absolutely vital", he concluded.
    Tavares, 66, resigned suddenly, deepening concerns about efforts to turn around the world's fourth-largest automaker following the group's drop in profits. (ANSA).
