Train delays in line with recent years says Ciriani

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 15 - Recent delays recorded on different train services are in line with percentages registered over the past few years, the Minister for Relations with Parliament Luca Ciriani said on Wednesday during a question time session at the Lower House on the train chaos.
    "The delays reported on different types of rail connections are in line with the percentages of the past few years", he said, quoting figures released by the Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) rail group.
    "The punctuality rate is, in fact, 74% on Frecce (high-speed trains), 82.6% on Intercity and 88.9% on Regional" trains, he said.
    "The reasons for the delays are in 34% of cases related to the reliability of infrastructures and for about 25% to rolling stock" while the remaining causes cannot be attributed to the railway system, said Ciriani.
    The minister also said Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini would soon be reporting to Parliament on the transport situation. (ANSA).
