(ANSA) - UDINE, 15 LUG - The 4th edition of Mittelyoung, the
under-30 festival of Central Europe organized by Mittelfest,
kicks off tomorrow in Cividale del Friuli (Udine). The festival
spans three days of performances until July 18, showcasing the
work of young generations and aiming to provide production
support to emerging artists.
Selected by young curators under 30 from 250 applications
received from all over Europe, the nine Mittelyoung
performances—two music, two theater, two dance, and three
circus—will attempt to interpret "Disorders," the theme chosen
for the 2024 edition of Mittelfest by Artistic Director Giacomo
Pedini. The festival will bring artists from six countries to
Cividale, promising a diverse and captivating experience: Italy,
Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, and Switzerland.
The same panel of curators will select three winning
performances featured in the Mittelfest program on July 20, 21,
and 22. A new addition for the 2024 edition is a panel of
experts evaluating and highlighting the best and most exciting
proposals among the nine on the Mittelfest stage. The jurors are
experts Alberto Bevilacqua, Veronika Brvar, and Roberto
Canziani.
The awards ceremony will occur on July 19 at the Church of
Santa Maria dei Battuti. Tomorrow's performances include "De
Origine" by Gravagna-Fiorucci-Nardiello (Italy), a trio
presenting their first album released in April 2024 by Honolulu
Records; "Son Tutte Palle" by the Chalibares Circus Company
(Italy), offering a wordless theatrical performance featuring
juggling, clowning, and acrobatics; and finally "Manual" by
Platforma 13 (Romania), a dance show exploring the male body and
the mechanisms that perpetuate violence and pleasure, the
stereotypes and expectations that plague it, and the
transgressions and insecurities that cross it. (ANSA).
