(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 3 - The European Commission applauded
today the adoption by the Council of additional targeted
restrictive measures in response to Belarus' involvement in
Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, the bloc stated today. In
particular, the new measures will ensure that Russian sanctions
cannot be circumvented via Belarus by bringing EU sanctions
targeting Russia and Belarus into closer alignment.
The measures expand the export ban against Belarus to include
a variety of highly sensitive goods and technologies that
contribute to Belarus's military and technological development.
The Council also imposes additional export restrictions on
firearms and ammunition, as well as aviation and space-related
goods and technologies. The modifications also harmonise the
sanctions against Belarus with those against Russia. (ANSA).
